Manou
MANOU (Manuela Oeschger) is a Swiss singer, songwriter, dancer and model. Born and raised in Wil, Aargau (Switzerland), she was a part of the German pop band beFour.
Following the break up of beFour, Manou launched her solo career as a singer. Her first EP “Red Handed” was released in December 2012.
Early life and career beginnings
[edit]Manou is the daughter of Alfred and Ruth Oeschger. She has one older brother named Dave. Manou was raised in a very small town called Wil, Switzerland. After school, she attended the Freiburger Musical and Acting School for three years. In 2005 Manou studied at the Lee Streasberg Theatre and Film Insitute in New York for one year. Additional to the school, she took dance classes at Alvin Ailey American Dance School and Steps On Broadway.
2007-2010 : BeFour
[edit]in 2007, Manou became a member of the band beFour alongside Alina Bock, Angel Garcia and Dan Muellermann. beFour was a German pop group founded in Cologne. The members were cast for the television show beFour: Das Star-Tagebuch ("The Star Diary"). Their first album “All 4 One” landed on number one of the charts in Germany and Switzerland and number two in Austria. With 200,000 copies Europe-wide the album was certified Platinum. The other two studio albums “Hand In Hand” and “We Stand United” went Gold status in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. The groups last album “Friends 4 Ever” released in 2009 got also certified Platinum. Overall the band released 4 studio albums and 7 singles.
In 2008, beFour got nominated for their first Comet Award for Best Newcomer. Shortly after they got 2 other nominations for The Echo Award for “Group National Rock/ Pop and “Most successful National Newcomer”.
