If you’re like me who is a fairly new editor and you want to create your own essay - then forget it. All the important guidelines, rules and essays were written like ten years ago. Since you don't have a time machine you're going to have to live with not being able to come up with anything new or original. I mean who even writes/reads essays anymore? Will I look back on this essay in a year or two and think why did I write this rubbish essay. Maybe the moral of the story is although you wish you could have been an "OG (original) Wikipedian", maybe its better you’re a Wikipedian in the present day. Sure you weren't there when the encyclopaedia was constructed, but you can still help with future developments. Don't feel like you'll never do anything important on Wikipedia, because you might in the future. Who knows maybe you or I will be creating featured articles every day of the week in the future (or maybe I’ll be blocked for being a bit of a dum dum). You never know where the wind is going to blow. For some reason I'm writing this as if it were a critical essay or something (oh yeah this is an essay). Anyway I'm going to end it here because I don't want all this too be accidentally deleted cause then i'd have to start again. Bye cool people. Sahaib3005 (talk) 21:12, 12 September 2021 (UTC)
Update: So far my achievements include: 5 DYKs, 1 In the news, I became a member of WikiProject Articles for creation and I am a Yeoman Editor (nearly an Experienced Editor). I have also nominated a couple of articles for Translation of the week at Meta wiki. I still haven’t fulfilled my dreams of getting an article to GA or FA or A class, but I’m not giving up lol. Update 2: I am currently in the top 900 Wikipedians by number of edits and have almost 100,000 edits (currently 96,000). I have promoted a lot more DYKS as well as two Good Articles (GA) and I am now a "Veteran Editor III". (Also in April 2022, I changed my username). Sahaib (talk) 14:39, 22 January 2024 (UTC)
