Ryan James Girdusky is an American conservative political commentator and author.
Early life
[edit]Girdusky was born in New York.
Career
[edit]Girdusky began his career in politics in 2007, spending his first position working alongside New York City Councilwoman Helen Sears. Girdusky also claims to have worked on the political campaigns for politicians such as Michael Bloomberg, Bob Turner, and Robert Holden, as well as with groups such as the Liberty For All PAC and the Logan Circle Group.[1] Girdusky is also the founder of the 1776 Project PAC.
Controversies
[edit]Appearance on CNN with Mehdi Hasan
[edit]On October 28, 2024, Girdusky and Muslim political commentator Mehdi Hasan were invited onto an episode of CNN NewsNight hosted by CNN anchor Abby Phillip to discuss the controversial events of the 2024 Trump rally at Madison Square Garden that was held a day prior. Immediately after Hasan made a statement regarding the far-right rhetoric used by speakers at the rally, Girdusky made a rebuttal about Hasan being called an antisemite due to his support of Palestine in the Israel–Hamas war. Hasan then replied that those statements would made by "people like [Girdusky]", which Girdusky rejected before then stating, "Yeah, well, I hope your beeper doesn't go off", a reference to the 2024 Lebanon pager attacks in which thousands of Syrian and Lebanese civilians were injured in an attack by the Israeli government targeting pagers and walkie-talkies intended for Hezbollah members. Following this statement, Girdusky was removed from the program during a commercial break and was subsequently banned from appearing on the CNN network. In response to the controversy, Girdusky later made a post on his X account stating "You can stay on CNN if you falsely call every Republican a Nazi and have taken money from Qatar-funded media. Apparently you can't go on CNN if you make a joke. I'm glad America gets to see what CNN stands for."[2]
