  2. ^ Hannover 96 qualified for the Cup Winners' Cup first round by winning the 1991–92 DFB-Pokal.
  3. ^ Blau-Weiß 90 Berlin were initially to enter the relegation play-offs, but they subsequently had their license revoked by the DFB, and were therefore to be relegated to the Oberliga. On 28 June 1992, the club was forced to file for bankruptcy due to the withdrawal of their licence and was dissolved.
  4. ^ Fortuna Köln were initially directly relegated, but were later able to enter the relegation play-offs after Blau-Weiß 90 Berlin had their license revoked.
