Area

Area: 968 sq miles

Recent Changes in Area: In 2007, Soldaria bought a square mile of land on its island that was occupied by a neighboring island country, Dilana.

Estimate of land area: Soldaria is about the size of Moscow, Russia.

Just the 968 sq miles is inhabited. The rest is a huge desert and takes up 5670 sq miles. The total island is about 6638 sq miles.

Economy

Soldaria is nicknamed the Golden Island. It is basically an island completely made of gold, and so the average Lelanan makes about a million dollars a year-but it is not off gold. The Soldarian government laid claim to all gold discovered in 1507. If you strike gold, the government will by it from you. Everybody has so much money that you get paid a lot of money every year by your employers.

Living in Soldaria

Once you move to Soldaria, you are given a starting of 1,000,000 SD. House taxes are only 1,000 SD a year.

Taxes

Income tax in Soldaria is only about 5% of the money you made that month. Water taxes are 1SD per gallon of water used. As Soldaria makes energy from the waves and has more than enough to spare, electricity is free.

Money

Soldarian currency is called the Soldarian Dollar, or SD, and nicknamed the Esdey. One tenth of a dollar, equivalent to one US dollar, is called the Esden or Soldarian Den. One tenth of an Esden is called the Soldarian Dooby, or the Esby.

Government

Changes

The Soldarian government is very old. It has gone through many changes. The first government of Soldaria was established in 671 AD, the year that Soldaria called itself a nation. Before this point, Soldaria was made up of tribes that were descended from people in Asia. A chief of each tribe governed the people in the tribe. In 671, the tribes were united and they were called the Nation of the Unified Tribes of Lelana, or just Lelana. The government comprised of a king and his royal family and a small council of people appointed by the king to vote whether the king should have his law made. This could be a great government, but King Dzohep III appointed a very bad council and therefore made extremely bad laws in 981 AD. The laws were against people descended from the Za tribe, and an uprising of Zas led to Dzohep's death and a new government. Dzohep's son, Zinghep, was assigned to come up with the new government. He had fled after his father came up with the racist laws. He came up with a government with a king, but it also had a group of people with representatives from each tribe voted on by the people of the tribe. This was stable for many years, but in 1322, two council members, Ian Kolvik and Sont Neubacco, had an argument over whose tribe was the best, and this led to a civil war with three sides-the Kolvik, the Neubacco, and the Unifiers, who tried to bring the two together and keep Lelana united. The Unifiers won in 1400, but further arguing led to a change of government, which was a lot like the old one but without a king or any royal people. This would seem stable, but it was found that some people were lying about which tribe they were from. These people were all from the same tribe, and made many laws making people in their tribe royals and other people the equivalent of dirt.

The Council

The Council includes:

President

The president manages the country. He is voted on by the public and is a member of one of the political parties. He can serve up to three terms of five years each.

Vice President

The vice president does everything that the president does when the president is absent from a meeting. If the president dies, the vice president becomes the new president. If both die, the job falls to the Head Secretary. The vice president is picked by each candidate for president.

Admiral

The admiral is controls the army. He is chosen from the generals of the army when his predecessor dies or retires by a vote of all the soldiers of the Soldarian Army.

Judge

The judge is head of the 150 other judges that are in the High Court of Soldaria. These judges manage major problems.

Tribal Representatives

There are representatives from each tribe that are also in the council. There is not, like the United States, a set number of representatives for each tribe. The number is chosen according to how many of that tribe there are. There are currently 127 Tribal Representatives.

Secretary Council

The Secretary Council comprises of these secretaries: the secretary of wildlife, of the treasury, of the economy, of the mint, of agriculture, of law, of education, of technology, of business, of transportation, of foreign affairs, of industry, and of grocery. These manage specific things each. They are voted on who to be when their predecessor dies or retires. The Secretary Council was not made at the same time as the Council. It was made in 1717 because people did not think there was enough and/or manageable government.

Parties

The parties are the same as the tribes that existed:

Berl, Aus, Jantilo, Seebo, Jeeni, Selit, Fargos, Dinguso, Ravese, Doongus, Lottus, Meb, Zenar, Firl, and Zlotta. The current president of Soldaria is a Jeeni.

Court

The court of Soldaria includes a judge, the defense, the offense, and anyone watching. The offense will state its claim and supply evidence. Then the defense will counterclaim and supply its evidence, if it has any. It will keep going back and forth until either two hours time has passed, or until the judge reaches a decision, if he does so before the time limit has passed. A recess is allowed every half hour. Court meetings are scheduled for Saturdays, starting at 7:00 AM and ending at 9:00 PM. If the judge does not reach a decision, the court is scheduled to be taken up again the next week.

History

8000 BC-7500 BC: The Start of Soldaria

In 8000 BC, two tribes called the Lelana and the Dilana lived in India. These tribes hated each other's guts. They killed and attacked each other so much that eventually, in the battle of Zargo, the Dilanans disappeared. One of the Lelanans, a guy named Dorboff, saw the Dilanan ships going away. He got his family and tried to persuade others to come, but nobody believed him, not even his two sons. So he and his wife, Ferlena, set out in a boat to leave for the place the Dilanans were going.

At this point in time (7950 BC), the Dilanans had already reached an island south of India. They landed on the island and found that half the island was a big desert, and half was a big forest. They took the forest part and set up headquarters there.

Meanwhile, Darboff landed on the island. He saw the desert part and the forest part. He wanted to live in the forest part, but his newborn son, Berl, was sick. So he set up a small headquarters there. And, in the meantime, he and his wife had fifteen more kids in this order: Aus, Jantilo, Seebo, Lulax, Jeeni, Selit, Fargos, Dinguso, Ravese, Doonugs, Lottus, Meb, Zenar, Firl, and Zlotta. These kids went to India, brought back wives, and had more kids. These kids married each other and had more kids, and so on and so forth. Eventually that part of the island had many people on it.

Eventually Darboff died. His descendants split into the tribes that we know of today.

7500-6500 BC: A Time of Sorrow

During this time, many things happened, and not many of them were good.

First of all, the entire Lulax tribe was wiped out by a flu epidemic. Then a great fire swept over the island, killing thousands of people. Finally, in 6576 BC, a huge earthquake occurred on the strip of land between the forest and the desert. The strip sunk into the ocean, and over the last eight thousand years since the earthquake happened, Dilana and Soldaria have been drifting apart.

6500-5000 BC: A time of advance

In 6471, it was discovered that gold was on the desert part of the island. In fact, the island was almost completely made of gold. The people there (the Ber tribe) began to sell it to people all over the island. Many people became rich. One of the tribes, Jantilo, built up a very, very strong navy. Another tribe, the Aus, had a very good attacking land force. Everybody fought. In 5100 BC, a Dinguso named Jorkak thought of a form of writing with a different picture for each sound. Many people wrote books.

This is a quote from a book written in 5013 BC, translated into English. The people on the island had very strange views of the stars:

"In my opinion, and in my observations, the stars are holes poked in the blanket covering our planet. Our world is a flat one, with mountains and canyons cutting across it. Mother Nature controls our seasons. This is common knowledge here in the tribe of Fargos."

That was written by a guy named Zebo.

5000-3500 BC: The conquering age

In 4997 BC, people of the Ravese (Rah-vay-say) Tribe started to conquer other parts of the world near their island, because (as one of them wrote) "It's just too hard to conquer the tribes of Darboff besides us; if a fellow came to me and said, 'We are the weakest tribe their is, and we will die or be conquered,' I would most definitely say that is true." (That was a guy named Bogel.) They conquered an area of Africa stretching from Kenya over to Angola and all the land beneath it. They also conquered part of Western Australia, parts of Indonesia, and parts of India. Their civilization stretched far. Unfortunately, after they had finished conquering what they called "the whole world," They themselves fell to the savage Selits. The Selits conquered the tribe living on the island, and the rest of the people around their land began revolting. The only survivors of the Ravese tribe lived in Indonesia. This happened in 3704 BC. The Ravesi people came back to Lelana in 3001 BC.

3500-2500 BC: No Rulers

This was at a point of time when the tribes were falling apart because of corruptness and war. In about 3400 BC, the tribes were completely dead. Well, the people still survived, but nobody led any of the tribes. People lived in the deserts and sold and traded. But in 2504 BC, a guy named Zebo went around and conquered everybody on the island with his army. Thus became Lelana.

2500-0 BC: The Crisis

During this time, in 1407 BC, the government collapsed with the death of the king Dobo. By this time, other people knew of Lelana, or the golden island, and were flocking there by the thousands. With the rush of people, and many uprisings, these 2,500 years were full of chaos. There were no laws, so people would steal and kill and fight all they wanted. Many people died, but more than this arrived to get gold. It was a horrible time.

0-671 AD: Reforming

At this time, many people were coming to Lelana still. Among those were educated Greeks. Plato visited Lelana, along with Archimedes and Eratosthenes. The growing country voted to have a leader in 67 BC. They were sick of no laws, apparently. But anyway, a government was formed with Strokka as king later in 4 AD. The government lasted for a while, but could gain no control. Then a king named Gilga made a code of laws in 467 AD. He had an army that would go around and punish lawbreakers. In 671 AD, a government was formed, and the island was called the Nation of the Unified Tribes of Lelana. (I will make a language, see this article in a couple of days.)

671-Now: Soldaria

In 1409, an former Englishman named Charles Pike suggested a new name for the country, one that was not as long. He said:

"This country should be called the Soldier Area. It has a very good army."

He did not realize that Soldaria also means The Place in Lelanan. Saying something is The Place is very very good for that place. Others knew that Soldaria meant The Place in Lelanan, and named it that because of this and the fact that it sounded very much like Soldier Area.

Language

The language has different symbols for each letter, but the currently used language, invented in 331 AD, uses just the 26 letters and each letter is a different letter, if you go by how you say it:

Army

System

The system of Soldaria's army goes like this. There is an Admiral who is in charge of everything. There are 3 Generals underneath him. They lead each army (Navy, Land Force, and Air Force). There are four Brigadier Generals under each General. Each one leads a Quadrant of the army they are in. Under each Brigadier General are 18 Commanders. 6 lead each of the three Sectors. Under each group of six Commanders are 18 Colonels. Six Colonels lead each of three Battalions. Under each group of six Colonels are 3 Majors, each of which leads one Regiment. Under each major in the tree of command comes the 9 Lieutenants. 3 Lieutenants lead each Platoon. Under each group of three is the Sergeants, of which there are nine. Three Sergeants lead each company (There are three companies-A, B, and C). In a company, there are five groups, each headed by a Corporal, which then consist of five Privates. There is a set total of 1,100,928 soldiers, making about 0.1% of the population a soldier.

ID Numbers

Every soldier in the Soldarian Armies has an ID number. This number tells their rank and what group, sector, quadrant, etc. they are in.

PTE2 means Private # 2. He is the second Private of his group.

G1 means that this man is a member of Group 1.

CA means that he is a member of Company A...

The CPL stands for Corporal.

In other ID numbers, 1SGT is 1st Sergeant, 2SGT is second, and so on. LTN is Lieutenant. MAJ is Major. Lieutenant Colonel is abbreviated to LCO. Colonel is COL. Lieutenant Commander is shown as LCM. Commander is COM. Brigadier General is BRG. General is GEN, and the Admiral's ID number is a special SAADM.

Ranking Up

Whenever a soldier dies, all the members of the next highest rank are studied carefully and one is picked to be promoted. He is picked from one of the things (sector, quadrant, group, etc.) that is headed by the thing that the dead soldier had come from. When the Admiral retires, the three Generals are voted on by every single soldier. The majority becomes the next Admiral.
