Piperlain is an acoustic, alternative pop/folk/rock band from Australia. It formed in 2009 by singers/songwriters Benjamin Knight and Rebecca Voorn-Knight.
History
[edit]In 2009 Piperlain recorded a song “Deliverance” later chosen for the Blue Mountains Homebirth CD “Handing Down the Knowledge”. In 2014 Piperlain was selected as a finalist to perform at the B&T MadWeek Battle of the Bands[1] during which time bassist Frank Davey and drummer Greg McGrath joined the band. Then, Piperlain was selected to perform at the 2015 Uberfest! Summer Festival Tour for emerging independent acts.[2]
Piperlain's style is identified as acoustic and alternative pop/folk/rock inspired by bands like Arcade Fire, Empire of the Sun, The Cranberries, Pink Floyd, Blondie and The Doors.
Albums and singles
[edit]The first song "Deliverance" was chosen to be on a compilation CD in 2009 called "Handing Down the Knowledge - Songs for Homebirth". It was re-released as a single in 2014 through Audiofunkmusic.[3][4][5]
Piperlain recorded a debut concept album in 2014 at The Grove Studios with executive producer Paul Iannuzzelli and producer Josh Telford. This album will be released in 2015.[6]
