Hello everybody. I 'd like to inaugurate my User Page with a question:

History of Currencies;

The US Dollar? (from the Dutch 'thaler' that much I know) But what I don't know is WHEN it was adopted. Before 1776 I imagine the Colonies used Pounds Sterling, shillings and pence. Or did they? Or did the 13 states have their own currencies before 1787? (As did the Australian states, I believe, before Federation)

So what currency did Washington pay his troops in? (Not cheeky;a real question) Any info gratefully recieved Ruddyjohn
