On The Air is an Irish Sitcom about a dysfunctional radio station written by Laura Louise Slattery (known for flame girl) and Rory Hall. The shows first series is currently being written by the duo and it is unconfirmed what network the show will broadcast on.
According to the shows Facebook page, writing is "in progress" and is "going well".
Casting
On the 7th of February 2014, the shows writers confirmed that the vast majority of the series regulars were created. On the 24th of Febuary 2014, Laura Louise Slattery and Rory Hall confirmed via social media that Meadhbh Halton had been cast in the role of Grace Benedict, an aspiring cook who works as a presenter for an daytime radio programme. Patrick J. Browne was cast an Foley artist Donovan Foley Jr, the grandson of the man who created Foley sound.
Potential Networks
Both co-writers have targeted British stations such as a BBC Three and E4 as potential commissioners. Both writers have also said that they are open to Irish Broadcasters RTÉ or TV3 commissioning the series. They will pitch the idea to new television station Irish TV as part of their new formats project.
Christmas Special
Whilst a Christmas special has never been confirmed, Hall and Slattery haven't ruled out the idea.
Influences
Both writers have heavy admiration for British comedy duo David Walliams and Matt Lucas and are huge fans of both Little Britain and Rock Profiles.
