'Ronpen2379' [[Lexington, KY]] USA Ph.D. Musicology University of Kentucky; M.A. Music Composition Tulane University; BA Music Washington and Lee University. I am a professor emeritus at the University of Kentucky where I also served as Director of the John Jacob Niles Center for American Music. As a musicologist, my areas of expertise focus on American Music, particularly vernacular music of the Southern Appalachian region. I am the author of various articles, book chapters, and two books--I Wonder as I Wander and Introduction to Music. I am a performer as well, primarily a fiddler and pianist/organist, and a shape note singer. I hope to complete a biographical entry on painter Rudolph Pen and with the expertise gained in submitting one page for Wikipedia, I hope to edit and craft others in my general interest of traditional American music. I am returning to Wiki by creating a new entry on professional musician Shelby Davis (Russo) Lathouwers.
