Kanchi Narayan Mohanty is a writer,poet, short story writer ,play wright writer, lyricist,dramatist,off-screen voice over artist, radio contributor and a literature personality hailing from Cuttack, state of Odisha, India.

He was born on April 14, 1956 to Late Gopal Charan Mohanty and Smt. Nishamani Mohanty in a nondescript village NodaGoan under Govindpur police station in Cuttack district in the state of Odisha. He pursued hi Bachelors in Commerce from Utkal University, Odisha. He has retired from Government service as an audit officer and presently has been contributing in the field of literature, radio and TV script writing, translation work etc. During early formative years, he made the most of it at the library in Noda-Dimiri M.E School, which created in him a great interest in literature. After completing class VII, in his village he was admitted in Saraswata vidyapitha, Biratunga in Puri district having an inspiring ambiance, like that of a Gurukul Ashram. There he was very powerfully impacted by the ideal and inspiration of a venerable teacher, Shri Shyama Sunder Nanda. This resulted in his bagging the first prize in an essay competition,organised by Odisha students council. His hidden talent in writing flowered in a number of stories, features,amusing writing, poems etc. published in Hindu Chetana, The Samay, ThePrajatantra, and many more magazine. In this connection he was creatively inspired by his uncle Srijukta DurgaCharan Mohanty himself a noted Writer and Odisha Sahitya Academy awardee in 1965. After completing graduation from Ravenshaw university he started his professional career as an auditor in the Finance department, Govt of Odisha in 1984. Traversing several places of the state and India, along with his sensitive personal experience, boosted his creative urge.He is an impaneled B+, drama voice of All India Radio Cuttack. He is also an approved off-street voice, of Doordarshan Bhubaneshwar and his unique talent in dialogue writing for the TV serial "Sankha Sindhura" deserved laurels. Some of his lyrics,have been sweet tuned in the sonorous voice of the popular singers of Odisha. There have been more than 45 books of his own writing glorifying children's literature and the intellectual horizon. His ever expanding literary career has been twinkling with many awards, felicitations and honours. He was honoured in the centenary celebrations of Banikantha Nimain Harichandan, in the year 2001 for his illustrious contribution to the literary arena. He bagged the special honour and felicitation of Brajamohan memorial honour in the year 2014 for his overall literary creation. He has received at least 30 literary awards in various fields It is to be noted that,his literary career received further fillip, when he bagged the state level children literature Award in 1982 and 1984. He scripts his works in Odia, English, Bengali & Hindi. The infinite creative journey of Shri Kanchi Narayan Mohanty continues transcending the frontiers of past, present and future. The inherent, lifting music emanating from his poems, urges him further to foray into the luminous firmament of creative imagination.
