Article: Opinion polling on the Donald Trump administration

After reading this Wikipedia article, I found it to be a very efficient addition to Wikipedia. This article discusses more quantitative research with bringing out different statistics from different sources. The majority of the article was relevant and the only distraction was when statistics were compared to previous presidents. When discussing public opinion, it is important to be unbiased when providing polling results. This article breaks down the polling by months and topic/issue to organize all of the collected data. It is unbiased because it provides polling from several sources instead of just a few. The only claim I found potentially biased was when the article stated “In his first month, Donald Trump has an approval rating among Republican voters of 84%, compared to 82%, 82% and 78% in the first months of George W. Bush, George H. W. Bush and Reagan respectively in the same demographic.” These percentages discussed in the article had no footnote citation at all and there was no clarity to where these numbers even came from.

A majority of the citations provided worked and it was very clear to see where the information was pulled from. I noticed a lot of polling was pulled from “RealClearPolitics” and this source is known for being unbiased. This article does pull information from sources like CNN and Fox News but it doesn’t utilize one source more frequently than the other. I also visited the Talk page for this article and I saw a few discussions about the information used. One discussion was about being on the lookout for fake polls and that you need to be careful about the reliability of the sources used. A lot of the other discussions were about the organizational aspects of the Wikipedia page. I definitely noticed that Wikipedia discusses this topic without personal input from the users. If I went to an article from a different site, it usually covers the information but then discusses it. Wikipedia goes straight to the point and it is consistently backed up with citations to validate the information used.
