Hi my name is Roger Cole, formally Roger MacDonald and known by many as Roger Raver. I was "christened" Roger Raver by Wacky (alas now dead) at CastleMorton Common free festival in 1992. He said I was to be called Roger Raver and not Roger "the" Raver. Although I dont use it much now it is still my prefered name at free parties and in the squat party scene. It is my intention on Wikipedia to update some of the stuff I know about Spiral Tribe, its origins, early parties and philosophy. I am taking part in a publication this year to commemerate 20 years of the 2nd summer of love. I am an original raver from around 86/87 and went to some of the earliest free parties. I also used to go to Shoom, Rage and land of OZ in 88/89 In 1990 I started doing stuff with The Evolution posse, that came out of Encyclopedia Psychadelica. In 1990 I met Mark & Debbie at The Schoolhouse party and we became friends. I was with Spiral Tribe until late 1992 when people went off to Europe. I have many personal recollections of those days and the parties. The Only party I missed was Torpedo Town of which Debbie said that she felt that was the one when Spiral Tribe came of age, when she felt we had really arrived! I am very proud of the role i played, though undefined, in the early days of Spiral Tribe and am very happy to see that we are not forgotten and still today have ennormous respect from many people for what we did and the pioneering role we played. I have tapes and photos from those days and want to share them and other information with you. The Spiral/free party vibe is still strong and will have relevence in the future as we look for ways to act collectively again as we face the challenges of the 21st century.
