University of Paris Disputes

I have a few comments at this time on the current dispute about the University of Paris article and related articles that is being discussed on its talk page, Talk: University of Paris, and in other places. There is a history of conduct issues and content issues, and that history includes sockpuppetry. I don’t know, claim to know, or particularly want to know what the underlying causes of the conduct issues are. Wikipedia must be written from a neutral point of view, and the prevalence of sockpuppetry is a symptom of point of view pushing that is counterproductive to the purpose of Wikipedia.

I do not think that the content disputes about the various schools that were the University of Paris and may be a new University of Paris can be resolved until the conduct issues have been addressed and controlled. My recommendation is that the Arbitration Committee needs to conduct a quasi-judicial inquiry into the conduct issues that have plagued the editing of these articles, and to impose appropriate sanctions, including, at a minimum, identifying and banning sockmasters, probably topic-banning persons having conflict of interest, and possibly even imposing discretionary sanctions. That is my opinion, that there have been too many conduct issues to try to resolve the content issues until the conduct issues are addressed (by draconian measures if necessary).
