From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The bulk of any page on a wiki consists of text. Plain, ordinary text. This lesson details how to add text to a page, simply and easily.

Text is nice and simple to add to a wiki page, as there is no fancy markup for it; you just place the text in with the markup and it is rendered as ordinary text, like the stuff you're reading now.

Adding text to a wiki page

[edit]
  1. Browse to the page you want to add text to (e.g. your sandbox)
  2. Click the edit this page link at the top of the page
  3. Enter some text in the edit box that is shown, or modify the existing text
  4. Add an edit summary, detailing what you just did (e.g. "added some more text about XYZ")
  5. Click the save page button to commit your changes

Example

[edit]
This is some ordinary text

is rendered as

This is some ordinary text.
