I am a computer scientist with primary interests in philosophy and film.

The guiding principal in my world view is that there is no perfect model.

This follows from "Gödel's incompleteness theorems" and the continual changes in science (or scientific revolutions). As well as the writings of Wittgenstein and Nietzsche.

It gives way to a more process oriented perspective:

"There is no ultimate answer, only ever more revealing ways of looking at the question." A phrase I started using in 1996.

Seeking an "ultimate model" in any scientific domain is a fools errand. But that does not say that we do not benefit enormously from this continual pursuit. For this process of continual growth is the objective function of our existence.
