Robert Roane Beard is an artist based in New York.

Biography

Born January 22, 1959 in Atlanta Georgia. Mr. Beard studied painting and drawing with James Herbert and Elaine deKooning at the University of Georgia and in Italy. Mr. Beard lives and works in New York City.

Work

Mr. Beard created an Installation piece called, "Thinking of You" a meditation on friends lost to AIDS, which appeared in Milan, Turin, and New York to unanimous critical acclaim.

Mr Beard also works on paper with watercolor, pen and ink. These works are inspired by landscapes and city scenes and generally result in intricate abstract jewels, reflecting the light, shapes and colors of the location interpreted back in the studio. These works have been exhibited in New York, London, Paris, Atlanta, Rome, Cape Town.

Mr. Beard is also the co-founder of the fashion house, Bibhu Mohapatra, which is based in New York.

Charity

Mr. Beard also co-founded an educational charity, the India Society, which raises money and provides scholarships to south asian students in Fine arts and fashion design.

Mr. Beard also founded Fly Art Limited, a private foundation, which raises money to assist working mature artists with international travel, I order to expand their work.

Mr. Beard is a trustee of The Olana Partnership, the state owned former home and studio of the Hudson valley school painter, Frederic Church, in the city of Hudson NY.

Mr Beard is a member of the private artist's club, The Chelsea Arts Club in London.
