Jean Delaney is an artist from Parksville, on Vancouver Island, in British Columbia, Canada.
She grew up in Calgary, Alberta, Canada in a busy household with six siblings. Her father was her first creative influence, during the week he was a professional, but on weekends the creative juices were always flowing down in his workshop.
Jean moved to Vancouver after she married and received a diploma in Fashion arts with knit wear being her focus.
In 1991 Jean moved to Qualicum Beach with her husband and baby daughter. During the next few years she was introduced to rug hooking and started a cottage industry where she gave workshops and would participate in several art shows a year where she would sell her work.
During that time Jean took several painting workshops, her easel was always set up in her studio, painting when she could find the time. Then in 2013 she took a five day workshop with Carol Marine. The premise of the class was to complete one small painting most days, this immediately resonated with Jean and her journey began. To date she has painted hundreds of 6 x 6 and 6 x 8 inch paintings. In the last couple of years she has made the leap to extra large canvas and equally enjoys working on both sizes.
Jean currently lives and paints in Parksville on Vancouver island with her husband and two dogs.
