Security features on banknotes and coins are employed by mints, banks and government treasury departments to prevent counterfeiting, prove the authenticity of the money supply and track criminal activity.

  • Transparent register: a design is printed that syncs between the obverse and reverse sides of the paper. When view back-lit, the competed design becomes visible with perfect intermeshing of shapes and colours.
  • Watermarks: when back-lit, a fait image is visible on the paper that is not visible under normal illumination.
  • Guillouch]]es: fine intertwined lines that change colour within the line themselves.
  • Kinegram: a specialised form of holographic image.
