OCTOPUS-Onboard is a-state-of-the-art system for providing ship masters with navigation support in heavy weather conditions www.amarcon.com. OCTOPUS-Onboard combines current-weather and predicted weather with hydrodynamic data, loading condition data and planned heading and course to advice best possible heading and speed at any moment during the voyage. This functionality can be extended with performance monitoring functions including fuel consomption optimization and fatigue monitoring functions to measure and monitor fatigue damage during a voyage. Also weather windows can be foreseen allowing an offshore manager to determine workability of his oil rig or dredging operation.
