María Emilia Castagliola (born in 1946 in Havana, Cuba) is a Cuban-American artist based in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Education
[edit]Castagliola has a B.A. in sociology, along with B.F.A. and M.F.A. degrees from the University of South Florida.[1]
Artworks
[edit]- La Inocencia Enmascarada (Masked Innocence): This work was created in 1990. It is oil and gold leaf on canvas. It has a size of 42 by 36 inches.
- El Perro Hortelano (Farm Dog): This work was created in 1991. It is oil and gold leaf on canvas. It has a size of 22 by 68 inches.
- Premonition: This work was created in 1991. It is oil and gold leaf on canvas and paper. It has a size of 17 by 21 inches.
- Pasion en la Calle 12 (Passion on the 12th St.): This work was created in 1991. It is oil and gold leaf on canvas. It has a size of 28 by 22 inches.
- A Matter of Trust: This piece was created in 1994. It is paper on fiberglass screen with cotton thread.
- The Birthing Album: This piece was created in 1994. It is graphite on paper sewn to wool and has steel wire.

[edit]Castagliolas work has been held in the Polk Museum of Art and is currently held in the Smithsonian American Art Museum.[1]
Honors and Awards
[edit]Maria received a Fellowship award from Art Matters, Incorporated. She also had a residency position at the Cambridge Center for Science and Art in North Carolina.
