Evan Davis (born Evan Christopher King October 2, 1982) is an Irene Ryan Scholarship nominated American actor, performance artist, comedian, writer and film director. Since 2002 Evan has worked as a stand up comedian. Evan is a method actor and is best known for his ability to morph into a character on and off the stage/screen. In 2007 Evan began production on a film he wrote 12 Minutes to Heaven scheduled to be publicly released sometime in 2009.[1].
Biography

[edit]Evan was born in Houston, TX October, 2 1982 [2] and adopted by Carl Davis and Betty Davis who alos raised Evan's real mother Laura Davis. Evan started acting at the early age of 5, when his parents realized he had a gift for memorizing films. [3]
Early acting work
[edit]In 1998 Evan performed an Ethiopian Dance at ’Culture Night’, which lead him to a Tribe called "Theater People". In 2003 Evan went to work with John Ca$h Carpenter at Lone Star College-North Harris[4]. Winning acclaim for his performances as Scar Tissue in Marisol(2003) written by José Rivera and playing a female character Yoli inIphiginia Crash Land Falls on the Neon Shell That Once Was Her Heart (2005) written by Caridad Svich[5] He received an Irene Ryan Acting Nomination for both plays, a scholarship award that the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival gives out to actors, playwrights and directors in college.
Yoli Character
[edit]Evan disappeared into the female character of Yoli, Fresa Girl from the dead. Evan learned to walk like a Run way model and studied the art of Drag Queens. This became Evan's most popular character at Lone Star College-North Harris. In 2006 along with the Irene Ryan Acting Nomination, Evan's portrayal of Yoli inspired a video with actress Emily Crawford parodying Yoli and Evan's accent[6]. Emily recited Yoli's catchprase from the play "My name is Yoli, with an "I" and not a "Y" like all those assholes think."[7]
Start in comedy
[edit]In 2006 Evan left the [[Lone Star-North Harris] College to pursue a career in Film and Stand Up Comedy. Performing at local comedy clubs such as Houston's legendary The Laff Stop, then toured various Houston Clubs, Art Shows and Coffee Houses. Evan's comedy act is best known for his caffeinated stage presence, wild body contortions and Keanu Reeves imitation[8]. a He is currently in Larry Kuciemba and Adam Komar’s Corner Pub Comedy Show, which opens August 28th. Evan loves creating and making people laugh. He hopes to one day be in a music video with his high school celebrity crush: Janet Jackson. [9]
Film career
[edit]In 2005, Evan provided the voice for Master Betty in Joseph Clark's animated short Thumb Pow[10], a thumb parody of the Steve Oedekerk comedy Kung Pow: Enter the Fist (2002)[11].
Evan is currently filming the tripy Romantic-Comedy 12 Minutes to Heaven Evan co-wrote and co-directed the film with long time friend and co-star Lauren Forbes [12]. Along with Lauren and Evan the film also stars Sofia Mendez, Andrew Brett, Tara Bostwick, Wes Linnenbank, Larry Kuciemba, Marissa Viso and Delilah A. Alexander.
