Ernst Fries (Sculptor) ... Ernst Fries, born in 1934 in Wurzburg, Germany, immigrated to Australia in 1959. Worked as a professional silversmith and sculptor since 1964. Teacher at RMIT (gold and silversmithing) 1966-1978 Australian President of International Association of Art (UNESCO) 1980-1997. Ernst instigated and organised the Toolangi International Sculpture Trail Event in 1996. Ernst's sculptures are predominantly in stainless steel, granite and glass(dalle de verre) with many public commissions and private sales. Ernst has exhibited in many one man and group exhibitions in Australia, Germany, France and Italy. Represented in public collections in regional galleries and the Australian National Gallery, Canberra. Completed his Master of Fine Arts at Monash University in 2010.
