Systemic Blood Pressure is the pressure experienced by the arteries and veins of the body, exerted by the circulating movement of blood. It is defined by comparing systolic blood pressure with diastolic blood pressure. [1]
Mechanisms
[edit]History of Research
[edit]Humans have been monitoring the movement of blood through the body from as early as 2500 BC in China - the Nei Ching states 'all blood is under control of the heart' and 'the blood flows continuously in a circle and never stops'. Understanding the movement of blood around the body, and changes due to sex, age or time of day were important in monitoring general individual health. [5]
