Kudos.
[edit]Good job on doing some stuff for Black Sabbath songs, etc.
They have been lacking. --Keith, evil dude 04:08, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Why do you believe that some songs on LOSAM meet the criteria for vandalism on that list? I added numerous songs to that list and thought that those songs had something to do with masturbation (e.g. reference, metaphor, out-of-context), sometimes, when I hear lyrics of songs, I get some impression.
Find out more on talk page. --SuperDude 07:16, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)
How can i apply for administratorship?
[edit]Dear Redwolf24,I am user:tdxiang.I would like to appeal to be an administrator, but how?
Sorry Tdxiang but you are rather new to Wikipedia. Administrators have to know Wikipedia inside and out. Until then, keep editing and keep contributing. Redwolf24 06:03, 25 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit]considering your msg to me wrt the bs page - since bs is a british band it is more appropriate to have the spelling in british as well. hence the changes. if I'm not mistaken this is in the wiki guide as well. Spearhead 30 June 2005 22:57 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks. Yes, the Mariah Carey article is a perpetual mess, as are a lot of the other music articles. Just looked at Black Sabbath and it's in the top 10%! Could use a couple more images though. Wasted Time R 1 July 2005 22:44 (UTC)
What do you mean by extentions? I might be able to help...
[edit]I saw your message on Jimmy's front page; When you say "extentions," do you mean that you want to create a sub-directory? If so, then simply put in the web address that you'd like to use, and it will pop up with a blank "edit" page, and you simply edit away. Does that help? You can answer me on my talk page and/or send me an email: Gww1210@aol.com --GordonWattsDotCom 2 July 2005 02:39 (UTC)

Searching
[edit]Hi Redwolf24,
Thanks for the welcome. I actually joined Wikipedia a while back but hadn't logged in when I posted material. I wasn't sure why one even needed to log in, but now see that it allows users to follow the history somewhat more precisely.
My current question is how one can search ALL of Wikipedia for a specific name, term, phrase to find out what's available.
For example, if I wanted to search for Warren Burger, fomer Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, I'd probably find an individual listing for him. However, there might be no main entry for a person even though that person might be mentioned numerous times in articles about other things. And even if there is an entry for what you're looking for, there's no way to find all those other mentions unless links have already been established. Is there a way to do what I'm asking that I don't see?
I'm also wondering how to get the same effect as the HTML anchor code <a name="example"> which allows a user to jump directly to a specific spot on a page? Your command <div id="example">an id attribute</div> inserts a hard return <br> when one inserts it in the middle of text, forcing one to use it at the beginning or end of a paragraph.
--Snsnews 3 July 2005 06:28 (UTC)
- You're very welcome for the welcome. Now for the questions... When you say search ALL of Wikipedia you mean like user pages and templates and everything? If so then when you search for something, scroll to the bottom of the search page and check all the boxes. If you meant to see pages that mention Warren Burger then go to his page and click "What links here" on the toolbox on the left side of the page underneath the searchbox. Oh, no way to find the pages unless links have been established... Most pages do link.
- As for the jumping down to a specific part on a wikipage, just use [[User:Redwolf24#Heroes]] (Test it out even-->User:Redwolf24#Heroes) of course that's an example. Use the page then the pound sign (#) to whatever section. I think I've answered your questions. If not then reply. Redwolf24 3 July 2005 06:40 (UTC)
Thanks for the welcome.

[edit]I have no idea what just happened. I was googling, trying to find recent contact information on someone, and found myself in WikiWorld. What I read needed improvement, so I did.
I don't know where the tildes go or why, but thank you for the tip. Is there something else I should do? Will anyone be the least bit interested in my edit, or have a reason to alter it?
It's pretty late--I just realized it's July 9 and I thought it was still yesterday.

Re: Wikistress
[edit]Its one of those situations where you know you're right but due to a fluke of policy your hands are tied. Bascially a user doesn't like the policies of a wikiproject I serve as coordinator for, and sought to create an alternative article, by turing a redirect to a preexisting article into a new article for his POV. It's somewhat complicated see the RFC for American West History, Geography section and User talk:Theresa knott#another bothersome request, sorry. Thanks for your concern. -JCarriker 20:21, July 9, 2005 (UTC)
- Please don't leave Wikipedia based on someone being an idiot. We lose a lot of great editors that way but they don't see for every Competent User we lose there's a higher idiot ratio. Anyways I've got to run. Redwolf24 21:03, 9 July 2005 (UTC)
- I don't plan on leaving, however the deadlock at Talk:American West is narrow perhaps you would consider helping me out over there all we need is one vote for redirecting back to the original article (new material has already been merged). - JCarriker 21:07, July 9, 2005 (UTC)
- K, good. I saw your friend Hephaestos and I feared you were gonna do the same. Redwolf24 21:39, 9 July 2005 (UTC)
Vancouveriensis article on Sir J.C. Bray sub John Bray
[edit]Dear Redwolf24,
Thanks for your welcome message.
I just wonder if I made a mistake creating my article and submitting it before creating an account for myself as Vancouveriensis? I see that the new account is not credited with contributing the article, so I have edited it to include that information at the end, but this is only a makeshift attempt to rectify my omission.
Thanks for any help.
Cheers,
V.

Alice Cooper Photograph
[edit]Thanks for your message, and for giving this some thought. Trivia time: as you noted, the cover of "Eyes" is indeed classic--in fact, it seems classic because it IS classic. It was taken from the inside fold of 1971's "Love It To Death". This is at least the second time that Cooper cover art was based on an image from a previous album, because the cover for 1977's "Alice Cooper Goes To Hell" was a cropping of a photograph from an inside photo of the band in 1973' "Billion Dollar Babies." An odd practice for someone so obviously in tune with image, don't you think? Generally, though, I prefer the scary clown eye makeup style (as on the cover of "From The Inside") to the demented drag queen makeup style (as on the cover of "Eyes). Thanks again and keep up the good work! -- ROYGBIV 06:30, July 10, 2005 (UTC)

- Oh, by the way, considering the vandalism that's been going on, you might want to check out our policy proposal at Wikipedia:Doppelganger account. It's not really the same thing, but something cose.
At this rate I better start typing? I'm going amazingly fast in my opinion :P anywho, I support that policy though it is a bit confusing. Anyways I broke 900. 1000 is next. :D. Redwolf24 08:39, 10 July 2005 (UTC)
- Oops, I was confusing. I meant, at the rate I'm going if you're going to nominate me at 2000, you'd better start typing the nomination, because I'll be there before you know it! I wasn't suggesting you weren't going fast enough, in fact, it think you deserve a barnstar for being constantly on the move! -- Essjay · Talk 08:46, July 10, 2005 (UTC)

Trolling RC...I do that all the time, except I look for vandals, not newbies. I use CDVF though, so I don't see redlinks. Speaking of vandals, you scared the bejezus out of me; I thought I was going to go find vandalism on my page! -- Essjay · Talk 20:50, July 10, 2005 (UTC)
- What is CDVF??? Redwolf24 20:51, 10 July 2005 (UTC)
Ah, I'm glad you asked, Grasshopper...CDVF is the amazing CryptoDerk Vandal Fighter. It gives you real time, streaming Recent Changes, lets you import your watchlist, color code edits by anon IPs, user page edits by other users, etc. It's the greatest thing ever!
For now, I must go; I have Mass in half an hour. I shall pray for us all! See you about 9 or 10!
OH GOD! Something's wrong with Kate's tool...My edit count is stuck where it was two hours ago! -- Essjay · Talk 20:59, July 10, 2005 (UTC)
A couple of questions
[edit]Thanks for your welcome. I have made a couple of editing changes to the stub Bio-Bio river but forgot to log on so they appear as my internet domain 200.85.205.210 Is it possible to correct to CONCE ..my user name or forever I have lost this chance for immortality? :-) (BioBio is part of rivers of chile or stub of Concepcion, Chile).
Other question ... I note that to send you a message there is a box ..Leave me a message. I have not seen this with other users and wasnt sure how to send them messages. i.e. whether to edit their MYTALK boxes etc. No doubt this information is somewhere within wikipedias guides etc. but there is so much and I am slowly learning on a need to know basis.
Paul Edmonds (aka CONCE)
- My Reply
- 1) Don't worry about 1 or 2 lost edits. I have about 1000 and if I did retrieve my IP edits maybe I'd have 1020. No big deal really. Remember next time you login to click "Remember Me" that way you won't lose any edits.
- 2) To leave messages on other users pages, just click Edit this page and go to the bottom and make a new sections.
- 3) PLEASE sign your comments with ~~~~, rather than just writing out CONCE. This way users can reply to you easier.

I forgot a heading so I'm adding one now..
[edit]Hello, and thanks for the welcome to Wikipedia! :)
I am a fan of Nirvana, so it's nice to see you list them in the top four of your favourite bands. And what I have heard from Black Sabbath, AC/DC and The Who thus far, I've liked.
Your user page mentions you play the guitar - I'm a dedicated player myself, currently only have an old classical guitar, but hopefully getting an electric one soon!
Also, that's an impressive collection of CDs. Too long to analyze right now, but some of the names I saw were the ones I listen to or have heard about and would be likely to listen to. In fact, I do envy that collection. :)
Again, thanks, your welcome message was appreciated.

- The welcome, no problem. I hope you become a valuable editor. I just recently hit my 1000th edit. Anywho anything on my page (such as the Leave me a message box) that you want, feel free to take (or if you don't know how I'll do it for you). If you're interested in welcoming newbies, see WP:WC. And thank you much for the band complements. :) As for guitar I've been playing since March '04. You? Redwolf24 01:11, 11 July 2005 (UTC)
- I'll take a look at the neat clickables on your page later, once I'll have more time.
About the 1000th edit - that's a lot. I hope you get to be an admin soon as you're hoping.
The guitar. I've been playing on and off. I went to music school when I was young, first took trumpet classes, but later switched to guitar once my teacher found out I was missing a front tooth. ;) I stopped after a few months, though, wasn't really into it. I picked up my guitar a few times in the last few years, but I really got into it full-time in about March this year, been playing and practicing actively ever since.
And thanks for the good words on my talk page, made my day. :) PeepP 01:45, July 11, 2005 (UTC)

- 1) about the 1000 edits: I'm applying for admin as soon as I hit 2000 edits.
- 2) How does the tooth mess up your playing? I know nothing about trumpets :-/
- 3) No problem for the good words, you might get a certain award. Redwolf24 01:47, 11 July 2005 (UTC)
- I don't know myself why the tooth was a problem, but my teacher said so. The guitar was better anyway since I didn't have to go to a distant forest where no one could hear me, every time I wanted to practice. :) PeepP 11:55, July 11, 2005 (UTC)
