Thank you for your support and nomination
[edit]Thank you for your support in the RfA on my behalf. It is an honor to have received your expression of confidence. To be chosen as an administrator requires a high level of confidence by a broad section of the community. Although I received a great deal of support, at this time I do not hold the level of confidence required, and the RfA did not pass. It is my wish that I will continue to deserve your confidence. Sincerely, --BostonMA talk 18:52, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
Hi Redvers, I hope that I did not do too many things to disappoint you. Hope you are feeling better soon. --BostonMA talk 18:52, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

Dmcdevit and IP blocking
[edit]Hi Redvers -- I am concerned about the auto-block (still not lifted) implemented by Dmcdevit against an IP address. It is the IP of a café in Chicago with a huge number of potential wikipedia contributors and Dmcdevit has it on a six month block even though I cannot see any user contributions from the IP in question. I am also concerned that Dmcdevit has been moving very fast and loose with IP blocks in general (just looking at his talk page with numerous examples of inadvertant blocks.)
Could you:
- please unblock the IP in question as soon as possible?
- take a look at Dmcdevit's IP blocking and see if you think it is reasonable? To me it seems to be a net detriment to the project right now.
Just to be clear, I have nothing against Dmcdevit (actually, I think I voted for him on RfA!). I am just worried that all of this IP blocking is a problem and should maybe be nipped in the bud with less stringent and more focused IP blocks (hours, not months). Sdedeo (tips) 17:03, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- Replied on talk page and tried to help in other ways. Fat lot of good it did me. Won't bother in future. ⇨REDVEЯS

[edit]I can't believe you would allow an indefinite block to remain on a newly registered user who claims to have only vandalized twice. I know I must be missing something, because the history shows no vandalism. --ElectricEye (talk) 17:51, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Speedy delete denial
[edit]Hi, I have been trying to clean up some unneeded redirects and you said in an edit summary (for Olympic medalists in sailing): Please orphan a redirect before asking for a speedy deletion.. Re: Sameh Abdalla El Alaily
[edit]Hi,
Can you please undelete the article Sameh Abdallah El Alaily, as it is my fathers birthday present.
I'm not putting any one here, look in the discussion page, and you'll find links to some of his work. most of these are about presentations he made in Europe(Spain, Italy, Portugal..ect) and Canada.
He was the Dean in Cairo University. He's the Goveror's consultant. He worked with the UNISCO in restoring old buildings. and he's a member of Culture Supreme Council, committee of architecture. He worked as an architect for over 41 years now.
Please respond even if you wont undelete it telling me why.
Thanks a lot

Your comments on Sdedeo's talk page
[edit]Hi, I just happened to read your comments on Sdedeo's talk page. I really think that you should honestly evaluate the tone of your response: it seems to me that while Sdedeo was unfailingly polite, and that while he was assuming and acting in good faith, that your response came off as condescending. In particular: "So, please, continue to make noises that are beginning to sound like rants about admin abuse if you want (and sadly they are sounding like that). You're entitled to do so, and, whilst it gains you no sympathy at all, I appreciate that you feel better from it." This is no way to treat a longtime, valued, and civil contributor. The stresses of editing, and particularly the Wikipedia bureacracy, irritate us all from time to time. That's no reason to be brusque, though. –Joke 02:51, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
- Replied on talk page, asking Joke137 to WP:AGF now and again. ⇨REDVEЯS 10:06, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
I am assuming good faith, thank you. I don't have the slightest doubt that you too are acting in good faith and with the best interests of Wikipedia in mind. Nonetheless, I believe that your dismissive tone was unwarranted. Thanks. –Joke 16:59, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
- Replied again - no dismissive tone, quite the reverse, but spun that way (successfully) by an angry user. Matter closed. ⇨REDVEЯS 20:23, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

You appear to have read Cwiki's remark
:i'm not unblocked because i'm not inclined to edit
as if he has said that he wants to be unblocked so that he can not edit. That is not what he is saying. In the structure of justifying the blocking of Cwiki, it was noted that edits by that account were sparse. Cwiki is thus objecting to that part of the justificatory structure. Now, I have not followed the controversy around Cwiki well enough to know whether he should or should not be blocked, but I ask you to review your review. —12.72.70.162 00:39, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
Happy Wikipedia Day!

Wikipedia has moved from an Alexa rank of 20 to a rank of 12 having already briefly visited rank 8 (current rank). Happy editing!

Everywhere Girl deletion review
[edit]The page you gave me on my talk page (Wikipedia:Deletion review)does not have a deletion review for Everywhere Girl article. Am I therefore forced to conclude that you deleted the article without any discussion, just because you did not like the article or subject?
Also, messages that you removed from your talk page did not have any legal threats or personal attacks. Therefore, removing those comments was a clear violation of Wikipedia guidelines. I ask you to behave like an administrator should and restore those messages. And, at no point have you given any reason for deleting Everywhere Girl article. It is painfully obvious that vast majority of users do not agree with the deletion, therefore it should be recreated. DLX 09:40, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

please unprotect A Pagan Day
[edit](please unprotect A Pagan Day)
I admit I was a little eager to start editing on Wikipedia and figured I'd learn as I went along. Now I've read through the tutorials and guides fro the edits that I plan on doing. Definately got off on the wrong foot with this article, but there was a serious misunderstanding that prompted User:ChrisO to flag my first post saying it was advertising. The album being edited came out 23 years ago and is only availble through collectors, so I re-posted a more specfic entry. Maybe it still looked like it was advertising or something, I don't know. Anyways I'm trying to edit all the entries for the various Psychic TV albums and discography pages that other users have started. I am only trying to expand entries that primarily exist only as a title, and in no way trying to advertise or sell anything. Isn't this the point of Wikipedia. Trying to not be offended, learn from my mistakes and to be more carefull with posting before hitting the save page button. I'm trying to do this correctly, please look through my contributions to see what I have done since this first screwed up edit, let me know if I'm doing anything wrong. I really don't want be a problem, just trying to make use of the knowledge on this subject that I have.
J mead 23 21:41, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
still abit confused...
[edit]While I admit that bands and band entries may be lacking a bit of notability, I am only trying to place entries for the lists and entry topics that others have started. Should I not try to do this or rather is it that a simple listing of albums that a band has put out enough to satisfy the primary intrest for Wikipedia, this is what pretty much exists right now. This is of particular intrest to me as Psychic TV's out put of albums and CD's reaches well over 100 with most of the known variants. The band could be notable for their sheer volume of original output, they were mentioned in the Guinness Book of records for such[citation needed]
as for inclusion at WP:BAND, Psychic TV meets all criteria with two possible exceptions #8 #9
one last bit, how should I verify information obtained direct from a record sleeve or CD inlay card, as these are my primary sources?

RE: ProSieben Sat.1 Welt Canada Article Deletion
[edit]I would like to know why this article was deleted, what was the rational behind this move?? I am the one who created the article and I fail to see the reason why it would be deleted when other similar articles are still in existence?!? I noticed that in the history section it refers to some history merge by some other user, care to explain what that means since you are the one who deleted this article?!HeMan5 03:42, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
