"Attempt at Somehting Serious" is the sixteenth track on Psychostick's second studio album, Sandwich. The song is a spoken-word track, detailing Josh "Joshy" Key's interrupted attempts at writing a song, which is actually what becomes the final song on the album, "We Ran Out of CD Space". During the song, Key is alone with his guitar. He is interrupted by lead singer Robert "Rawrb!" Kersey. The first time, Kersey bursts in on Key constructing the basic notes of the song. Kersey tells Key that somebody has called.The second time, Kersey comes in laughing, but Key quickly dismisses him. He is about to say something when Key tells him he is writing a song, to which Kersey responds by leaving. Afterward, Key begins writing some rough lyrics, which do not make it into the song (in the order spoken in this track). Not much later, Kersey returns, laughing, claiming what he has to say can't wait. Kersey says the word 'balls' is funny, and Key gets it, but Kersey insists Key thinks about it. Key again tells Kersey to leave. He gets even less work on the song before Kersey comes in, this time carrying a 'squeaky shark thing'. Key gets very angry at this point. He says when the band sells 'a million albums' it will be because Key wrote the song. The song ends soon afterward.
