Copenhagen Hospitality College is a vocational college located in Copenhagen, Denmark. The school is Northern Europe's largest school specialising in hospitality courses. The school is also known simply as HRS and is part of Copenhagen Business Academy in conjunction with 3 other colleges whom offer education in similar areas.
History
[edit]Around 1920 some restaurateurs came together to offer evening classes in various subjects relative to the hospitality industry, aboard a schooner named Constance. As the teachings became more comprehensive, the Ministry of Education acknowledged that hospitality courses were a craft and were approved apprenticeship status in 1922. The school was named Restaurant Industry Apprenticeship School. There soon became a shortage of space aboard the schooner, so in 1924 it moved into Copenhagen's Technological Institute and later to Kongedybet on Amager.
The school moved in 1980 to Kødbyen in downtown Copenhagen and changed name to it's current title - Hotel og Restaurantskolen. The student body increased dramatically during the 1990's which lead to the school opening an additional building on Niels Hemmingsensgade in January 2004.
As of August 2010 all school activities will be under one roof after again after a move to Vigerslev Allé 12-18 in Valby.
