The Canadian National League is a proposed semi-professional men's soccer league in Canada, to play as a Division II league in the Canadian soccer league system.
In the Canadian soccer league system, it would sit below the Canadian Premier League (CPL)
History
[edit]The league was began to have discussions in late 2019 from Canadian clubs sanctioned in the US who began discussions of forming a league amid discussions of potential sanctioning issues for Canadian teams in US-based leagues in the future.[1] The Canadian National League is to be a league launched independently from the Canadian Premier League, are open to the idea of an affiliation or other form of partnership with the CPL, featuring teams primarily from Western and Central Canada, in regional divisions.[1]
A women's league is also under consideration.[1]
