Cheri Knight is an American singer-songwriter best known for her work in the 1990s with the alternative country band Blood_Oranges and her two critically acclaimed solo albums.[1] At the time she released her solo albums, she also operated a flower farm, and gardening themes often were featured in her music.[2]
Knight is a native of the Berkshire Mountains region of western Massachusetts.
Knight was bassist and vocalist for The Blood Oranges, and wrote several songs recorded by the band, including "Hell's Half Acre" and "Shine" on the band's last album, The Crying Tree.
Knight's first solo album, The Knitter, was released in 1995 by ESD Records. The album featured Eric Ambel on guitar and Will Rigby of dB's on drums.
Her second album, The Northeast Kingdom, was released in 1998 on E-Squared Records and was co-produced by Steve Earle and Ray Kennedy. The album features contributions by Knight's former Blood Oranges bandmates Jim Ryan and Mark Spencer, vocals from Emmylou Harris, and guitar and vocal by Earle, among others. Knight has not been notably active in music since the late 1990s.
