Dollar Bill Clip
Similar to the rise in popularity of money clips in the mid 1990s, the dollar bill clip has come into prominence in the fashion scene most notably in December of 2009. Although the place of origin is unclear (with many citing a similar style used in the UK since 2006), the dollar bill clip is thought to have originated in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. The dollar bill clip itself is a bill of currency attached to clothing with a paper clip. The original style used only the $1 denomination, while later on the style saw the use of other denominations of up to $100 USD.
The use of money in clothing is not new to fashion. From the penny loafers of the early 20th century, the use of money in fashion has extended to the urban subculture of Baltimore, famous for other urban subculture movement such as Baltimore club music.
