Couple notes about using the app
[edit]- Multiple languages? Enjoy the bugs!
- Failed to escape an "&" in a copyvios report link
- I mean, who does silly stuff like... placing userboxes at the end of a page? Oh.
- Transcluding something with tables via excerpt will just place all the tables on top.
- Watchlist is hidden behind a menu.
- What is up with image tagging and captioning?
- They don't show up in the edit history.
- Oh, wait... they show up in commons and clog up the edit history with 'suggested edits. On the Wikipedia app.
- Worst feature ever. Regular users can't edit these, but unprivileged mobile app users can... for days... without knowing where their edits are going...
- Want to watch or edit a template? Haha, no.
- Wanna use the Visual Editor? Good luck, you're screwed
- (Just push the MediaWiki syntax onto the mobile users, cause who cares about them, right?)
- Wanna type a lot of text?
- If you go over half the screen, you'll be blind!
- Have fun screwing around with the text size...
- If you go over half the screen, you'll be blind!
- Wanna create the sandbox page?
- Oh right, you can't! For any page!
- Common.js? Broken. Not that it matters anyway...
- When you talk, the newest thread is on top.
- Wanna publish an edit? ...... (is this button working?)
- The app has absolutely no support for pending changes. Normal editors will be left in the dark... reviewers can't review...
- Remember portals? A.k.a. that feature Wikipedia got from Microsoft Encarta? Well, it doesn't work in the app.
- And the final inexplicable bug: My user page. Why is text appearing above my userboxes??
- (Does Template:Clear not mean anything?)
But hey, at least it has a great offline mode, right? Real useful for an encyclopedia prone to lazy inaccuracies and vandalism...
To prove my point...
[edit]Let's click on a redlink!! /new page test
- In-app, the link looks dead to me. It's not even red!
Offline notes
[edit]- You'll always be confused at the save button, and whether it will show your articles or save your article.
- And sometimes, when you tell it not to save an article offline, it's still there!
I'm on the beta version, btw
[edit]- And Wikipedia:Contentious topics doesn't display properly.
