My work is primarily intended for philosophers of language and mathematics, specifically those with an interest in the cognitive sciences and artificial intelligence. I first read Jan Christiaan Smuts’ Holism and Evolution in the late ‘70s as an undergraduate Mathematics student. At the time I was filling free electives with a Theories of Personality course and one of the topics was Jung’s collective conscious. The combination of Jung, Smuts and Mathematics led to the rough beginnings of a blueprint for my work-in-progress, Holism and Mathematics. After graduating in 1981, I set out to continue my study of Mathematics at the University of Wyoming in Laramie; planning to develop Holism and Mathematics as my doctoral dissertation. However, the combination of my mother’s sudden and unexpected demise and the birth of my first child led me to abandon my academic interests. Over time, I evolved from a philosopher/mathematician to a network management programmer before arriving at my current profession as a software quality assurance project manager. Over the years, I remained steadfast in the desire to resume my research at some point in the future; my contributions to Wikipedia on Holism represents the first fruits of my labors.
