Introduction Clinical skills are an integral part of a career in medicine, it is also a fundamental part in the undergraduate life of a medical student. Mastering the skills required to pass exams or to have the necessary knowledge to practice medicine in the future is without doubt one of the major goals for a medical students. Professor Chris Heath from Otago University developed a system called Devised OSCE Learning Automated Practices or (DOLAPs). DOLAP's provides a frame work where clinical scenarios are practiced in a way that ensure attending to time, vital components of the elected skills being practiced, and a self feedback mechanism. The practice page consists of 3 components; 1- the instruction on how the task should be attempted to the both students, 2- the evaluation for the role play from both the doctor and the patient and 3- the assessment guide. Let us imagine the following scenario, you just had a clinical skills session last week where you learnt how to palpate the liver. You need to do more practice but you are not sure how to assess yourself. DOLAP's can be a useful tool in this situation. For the Example mentioned above you could write up a scenario using the DOLAP's format and use it to practice with your collages. Furthermore, you could each write a different scenario and bring them all to a self directed practice session where you all can cover various aspects of the elected skills and gain some feedback on your own performance.
