Runa Khan is a Bangladeshi social entrepreneur and the Founder and Executive Director of Friendship, a non-governmental organization operating in Bangladesh[1]. She founded Friendship in 2002 with a floating hospital known as Lifebuoy Friendship Hospital. The hospital was converted from an oil barge in order to deliver healthcare to remote river islands in North Bengal. [2]. The organization has since added two more floating hospitals to its fleet, through which it claims to serve 140,000 patients a year [3] [4]. Khan won the Rolex Awards for Enterprise in 2006 [5] for work through Friendship to preserve the declining craft of traditional boat building in Bangladesh. [6]
