Qunb is a cloud-based internet service startup which provides a data visualization service. The company was founded in Paris, France and is incorporated in Boston, USA. Qunb was selected in the Spring 2013 to partake in the TechStars Boston startup accelerator program.[1]
Service
[edit]Qunb generates data visuals in the form of a ‘Qunb data story’, a generic narrative of analytics in the form of interactive charts and graphs based on standard datasets[2] . The Qunb tool generates 'data stories' in two ways: spreadsheets and use cases. The qunb spreadsheet service is, according to the qunb website, is still experimental [3] . The service endeavors to visualize uploaded data sets in the cloud to generate visuals[4] . The qunb ‘use case’ tool is explained in the next section.
Use Cases
[edit]Qunb use cases is a service provided by qunb where standard data is extracted from set use-case data sources and formatted into standard narratives which provide a summary of selected key data indicators[5] . The use cases are not customizable. As of July 2013, only two use-cases are in use:
Google Analytics
Qunb’s Google Analytics use case involves the extraction of Google Analytics key performance indicators (KPI) into a standard story that encompasses data on site traffic, traffic sources, and bounce rates of analyzed websites. The data is then summarized into visuals that can be viewed on-website and shared with password protection[6] .
SalesForce
As of July 2013, the SalesForce use-case has been advertized on the website data upload tool but has not gone live[7].
History
[edit]Qunb was founded in 2011 by serial entrepreneurs Cyrille Vincey and Jean-Baptiste Théard. In 2011, Qunb positioned itself as a Big Data online vendor where users could buy and analyze data [8] . However, Qunb’s product has changed into a data analysis service [9] .
In 2011, Qunb was part of the 2nd batch of the French startup accelerator program Le Camping[10], and is currently part of LeChaudron, a spinoff from the program [11]. In 2012, Qunb won the LeWeb Paris startup competition[12]. In 2013, Qunb wan “Best French Startup” at the Europas startup competition[13].
Qunb raised an an estimated $500k of angel round funding[14]. In November 2012, Qunb was selected to be part of TechStars Boston Spring 2013[15][16].
