I am of English nationality but based in Germany. I studied Biological Sciences and did a PhD in microbial molecular genetics. Wikipedia primary interests are however volcanoes and penguins.

With respect to conflict of interest issues on Wikipedia, it is noted that I am the sole owner of the website www.photovolcanica.com, and also contribute regularly to the website www.tboeckel.de.

Photovolcanica is primarily dedicated to providing detailed and illustrated encyclopaedic-style information on volcanoes and penguins (Much in wikipedia style - however drawing heavily from scientific literature and being extensively illustrated with photographs by the author).

tboeckel.de is website by a german friend focussed on volcanoes and astronomy. I make regular contributions to volcano sections on this page. Images are also on commercial stock archive vulkanarchiv.de.

Photovolcanica was automatically blacklisted due to excessive international linking in April 2008 and then reinstated by meta editors in May after a discussion on linking policy.

The images on www.photovolcanica.com in their 200x300 pixel versions (but no larger) are released under GFDL so that they may be used by wikipedia editors. The location of the larger image could be specified in the image information, along with a note that the larger image versions are NOT subject to GFDL (as GFDL would release them for downstream commercial users). A notice of the GFDL license arrangement has now been included on the website under URL: http://www.photovolcanica.com/Contact.html under the header "Photos".
