I compared "Immigration to the United States" in English and in Spanish. Many Americans are extremely opposed to immigration, I decided it would be interesting to see if I could see this point of view in the American article when compared with the Spanish one.

A few things popped out when I looked at the two articles. The first piece that caught my attention was in the Spanish article which read (translated), "While an influx of new residents from different cultures presents some challenges, 'the United States has always been powered by its immigrant population ...'" The Spanish article was a lot shorter and although it mentioned that immigration allegedly causes problems, it definitely focused a little more on quotes and people saying it's good. The Spanish article also talked about hardships for those trying to immigrate. The English article is quite a bit longer. It covered history of immigration, dating back to immigrants arriving at Ellis Island and covers the immigration of many different groups of people to the United States. It has a much more extensive section covering effects of immigration which unusually even included a section titled "Effects on African Americans."

I was actually a little surprised to see that the English article was pretty neutral in terms of such a controversial topic. It makes sense because people look through Wikipedia checking for NPOV all the time, but it still surprised me a little. I was not surprised to see the Spanish article leaning slightly in favor of immigration.
