Proposal of Planned Research (3 Paragraph)
[edit]Gender youth in sports is a Wikipedia page that caught my eye and I find interesting. It relates to sports, which is a topic that I have a good understanding and know a lot about the subject. I think the gender aspect opens up a lot of different directions when talking about sport. There are definitely different reasons why male and females participate in sports and it is interesting to find out what these are. I would like to research some statistics about participation of youths in sport across the world and find out the differences in numbers. This is lacking in the introduction.
This page informs us about the opportunities that both youth males and females have available to them. It also discusses the role that adults play. Adults can volunteer to help out the youth and encourage them. This is once section that I would like to edit and in-put organizations that support this. As stated before, introduction needs work so that is definitely an area I can improve.
I also plan on creating linking other articles to it. I can research related topics and organizations, which are involved in youth sports and link these. Statistics is an area that I am going to research on a global scale. I can compare the figures and find reasons for why these numbers exist. When I find information about the organizations involved in improving youth sports, I can include this information within the article.
Research Topic
[edit]- The Wikipedia article that I am going to edit is Gender in youth sports. This article interests me as I have been involved in sports for the majority of my life. I want to learn more about how gender is involved in youth sports. I suggestion on my talk page was to link articles to the page because it's an orphan. This would allow the article to be more accessible. The feedback that I have been given on my article is helping me make decisions on what changes and additions I am going to make.
- The article has no lead section. I will add an introductory paragraph that will address exactly what Gender in youth sports is. I will include information about what topics the article will contain such as education, sport, gender and opportunities. The education system for youth provides sports opportunities, but gender roles that are distinguished at this early age prevent some students from participating. I will also link more related links to the age.
- I plan on researching why gender has an affect on sport. See how this links in with the education system and some of the gender roles that are performed in school. Trying to find an understanding why both youth and adults see gender as a factor in sport will be interesting.I found some articles at the Drake library that are linked with my article. These articles include statistics, theories and reasons for how gender affects youth in sports.
- Some of the paragraphs include grammatical errors in which I can fix and improve the sentence structure. I will make the reading more legible and understandable. I can further information under the "Youth sports in Urban communities" sub-heading. I have an article which talks about this topic. Some of the areas I would like to talk about have been mentioned, but I can definitely elaborate on this.
