User:Quintucket/Projects
This is a list of projects I am working on. Below are pages I created, pages I need to create, and/or pages that require a severe overhaul. In most of these, I will be creating pages directly once I think I can meet a minimum standard of detail and citation, because I believe there are more people who can and should contribute. A few, for which Wikipedia has higher standards, such as living persons are covered in my Portal page, which is topics of interest that aren't urgent priorities, and will be userfied until I am happy with them.
Korea
[edit]- Addresses in South Korea (yes, the article is comprehensive, but is still needs a bit of work in places.)
Daegu
[edit]American Diaspora
[edit]Countries
[edit]These are countries where there's an article already, or where I think there is enough information on the American population to support an article:
- Americans in Korea
- Americans in China
- Americans in Germany
- Americans in India
- Americans in Ireland
- Americans in Japan
- Americans in Mexico
- Americans in The Philippines
Cities
[edit]These are cities where, again, I think there is enough information on the American population for an article:
Other Possibilities
[edit]I haven't done any research, these probably have enough information for an article, but I'm not especially keen on doing the research, and probably won't make an article for them.
Regions
[edit]Some of these might be worth general articles, particularly
- Americans in South America (Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela, Chile, and Guyana are certainly notable, though probably not worthy of articles).
- Americans in Central America (Panama, Nicaragua, Costa Rica. That last one might merit an article of its own.)
- Americans in Asia
- Americans in The Middle East (Especially the Gulf States, Lebanon, Iraq.)
- Americans in Europe (Not sure if Turkey belongs here or in Mid-East, alas I don't think there's enough for an article yet)
Sub topics
[edit]Some subtopics that probably have pages that I need to find and may need to work on:
- History of Study Abroad
- History of ESL
- History of Missionary Activity
- Americans in other English speaking countries (related to Anglosphere).
Other topics
[edit]Other English-Speaking Diasporas
[edit]Some of these are adequately covered, but I will include them all.
- Canadian diaspora
- Australian diaspora
- New Zealand diaspora
- British diaspora
- South African diaspora
- Irish diaspora
- Guyanese diaspora
- Jamaican diaspora
ESL in various countries
[edit]I haven't even done preliminary research, but there's a lot of information floating around about this stuff. In particular, issues facing expats and government laws, while hard to keep up to date in an article, tend to be very well covered on the internet.
English in various countries
[edit]To start with, two continents that need their own pages, and don't have them.
- English in Asia (English is official in several countries, and growing in popularity in more.)
- English in Africa (English is official in several countries with different dialects, moreover there are some well-researched historical similarities that merit a mention.)
- English in Oceania (Technically, I'm thinking of English-based creoles and may be covered elsewhere. But if there are common innovations in Aussie and Kiwi English, it would certainly merit an article.)
Cultural archetypes
[edit]I came back largely because I had an argument with another user about one of these, which I've listed below, but I think we need articles on more of them. Again, I will add them as I see them.
