Clarice Smith Clarice Smith (born 1933) is an American painter and portraitist whose paintings have been exhibited in a number of exhibitions in the United States and Europe, including a solo exhibitions at the National Museum of Women in the Arts (2009), Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (2011), and the New York Historical Society (2013). With her late husband, Robert Smith, Clarice Smith has engaged in significant philanthropy, especially at the University of Maryland, where the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center is named for her.
