Article tags
[edit]See WP:Template messages/Cleanup, especially Section 6.13.2 (inline verifiability tags).
Template link
[edit]{{tl}} will produce a template link, like that one, whereas {{tlx}}
will do the same in monospaced font. {{tlx}}
will also show further piped arguments, as used below.
Collapse
[edit]Collapse a lot of material, e.g. a proof, or a proposed new section on a talk page. Use {{collapse top}}
then {{collapse bottom}}
Extended content

Stuff goes here. |
No wrap
[edit]Use {{nowrap|The contents of this template will not wrap.}}
to stop its contents from breaking.
The contents of this template will not wrap. The contents of this template will not wrap. The contents of this template will not wrap. The contents of this template will not wrap. Redirect
[edit]Not technically a template, but still useful to know:
#REDIRECT [[Page name#Section title]]
Anchor
[edit]
Use {{anchor|valueatzero}}
, then later link to [[article name#valueatzero|display label]].
Diff and OldId
[edit]Use {{diff|Main Page|204901573|202506579|a link like this}}
to produce a link like this, and {{oldid|Main Page|589841|this link}}
to produce this link.
Signing unsigned talk posts
[edit]The template {{Unsigned}}
can be used for unsigned posts. It's best to subst it, as in {{Subst:Unsigned|Quietbritishjim|11:15, 1 June 2005 (UTC)}}
to give — Preceding unsigned comment added by Quietbritishjim (talk • contribs) 11:15, 1 June 2005 (UTC)
Talkback
[edit]Use the {{Talkback}}
template. Add a new section to their page and use the below (including the five tildes literally).
{{Talkback|Quietbritishjim|[Section title]|ts = ~~~~~}}
Math
[edit]If using Wiki markup (rather than LaTeX in a <math>
tag), use the {{math}}
template to format it in a serif font and stop it from wrapping. E.g. {{math|1=''f''(''x'')=''e''<sup>''x''</sup>}}
comes out as f(x)=ex, as opposed to f(x)=ex. The 1= is needed to avoid the equals sign in the formula being interpreted as part of the template syntax.
