Wilio Saul Destin is an American soccer player who plays for Lazio in the Serie A and the United States national team.
Career

[edit]Destin was not initially offered a professional contract, so he opted to take a partial scholarship to Virginia Commonwealth University, where he became a starting second striker after impressing in preseason. In Destin's first game for the Rams, he netted a hat trick en route to a 4-1 win against Navy. Destin would score 23 goals during the CAA regular season, earning Rookie of the Year honors for the CAA as well as becoming the first ever CAA Most Valuable Player as a freshman. Destin's scoring helped the Rams win the 2011 CAA Men's Soccer Tournament, and reach their first ever College Cup, where they eventually lost to North Carolina. Destin's 8 goals in the NCAA Tournament were an NCAA record. At the end of the 2011 NCAA Division I men's soccer season, Destin earned the Hermann Trophy, becoming the first freshmen to win the honor.
On February 2, 2012, it was announced that Destin had signed homegrown contract with D.C. United after an impressive freshman season at VCU. Destin had turned down trial offers with Fulham, Ajax and Rangers. Destin scored his first goal for United on April 9, 2012. In his rookie season, he made 30 appearances, scoring 17 goals, earning him MLS Rookie of the Year. Destin's second year with United saw him score an MLS record 32 goals in league play becoming the first person to ever register a 30-goal season in MLS. On the opening match of the 2014 season, Destin became the youngest player to score 50 goals in MLS play. Scoring an impressive 20 goals in 17 league matches, Destin was sold to Eredivisie side, PSV Eindhoven for approximately $8 million.
In his first season with Eindhoven, Destin struggled at first, and did not score in his first four matches before being benched. Coming off the bench in the sixth match of the season against Willem II, Destin scored a hat trick, helping Eindhoven win 4-1 over Willem. Destin would then go on to score in the next 12 consecutive matches, before ending the season with 26 goals in the Eredivisie, the most during the season. During the summer of 2015, talks circulated about Liverpool purchasing Destin for approximately $25 million, but talks broke down. On transfer deadline day, Destin signed a four year contract with Marseille for approximately $20 million.
With Marsielle, Destin had a slump his first season, only scoring 9 goals in 24 apperances, but during his second year, he netted 21 goals in Ligue 1 play, tied for third in the league. After his season, Serie A outfit, Lazio purchased Destin for about $28 million.
