The Chaston City Reds Football Club is an Waterfordian association football club based in Chaston, Greater Waterford. Founded in 2007, the club is one of only five Waterfordian teams to spend their entire duration in the top tier of Waterford association football; the others being Waterford Athletic, Pacifica Beach, Newsome City, and Colchester. The club is owned by longtime friend of Waterford founder, Tyler Walter, who designed the club's logo and kits.
Chaston City has often been considered the strongest side in Waterford that are not part of the "power duo", which are widely considered to be Waterford Athletic and Pacifica Beach. The Reds have, despite their status as being the third club of Waterford, or even more demoralizing, the "Valencia", "Hearts" or "Arsenal" of Waterford have achieved four league and two cup titles in their existence, and have produced several world-class talents. Notable stars to play for the Reds include Jonathan Bornstein and Reginald Croix. The Red's strenghth, both on the pitch and in the finance office are rather unique, as the bridge a gap between Waterford's two superclubs and remainder of Waterfordian teams, not making enough profit or having enough financial backing to match the superclubs, but being wealthy enough to significantly outpace the remainder of Waterfordian teams. Consequently, the Reds have finished seasons where they were 10-15 points clear of the fourth and fifth best WPL clubs, but roughly the same margin of points behind the first and second best clubs. Nevertheless, Chaston is only city in Waterford, excluding Pacifica Beach and Newsome Heights that has a majority of its residents backing the Reds as their favorite Waterfordians outfit, a trait not normally seen in other Waterfordian cities; where most soccer fans associate themselves with Pacifica Beach or Waterford Athletic, despite not living in the metro area the two clubs represent.
Living up to their name, the Reds primary kit is predominately red with white trim. The secondary kits offer a negative aspect of the primary kits with a white field with red trim. The alternate third kits are black with red trim. Several fashion outlets in Waterford have cited the simplicity and colour combination of Chaston City's kits to be the most stylish in all of Waterford. The Red's kit sponsor is Emirates Airlines. Since 2010, the Reds have been coached by former American soccer legend of the 1970s and 1980s, Shep Messing. Unique in its own nature, the Reds are part of the Chaston City Reds Sporting Group which sponsor a pro football team, a volleyball team, a baseball club and a basketball team all under the monicker "Chaston City Reds". The soccer department is the second most successful sporting department, in terms of silverware won, lagging behind the semi-pro basketball team.
