Much of the information I contribute is drawn from a handful of sources, The Chattanooga Times Free Press, The Chattanoogan, Dean Arnold's wonderful if frenetic book "Old Money, New South", the Tennessee Encyclopedia, John Wilson's "The Patten Chronicle", Govan & Livingood's "The Chattanooga Country", and a handful of smaller & lesser known works about the history of Chattanooga and its people. The Local History section of the Chattanooga-Hamilton County library has been an invaluable resource.
