My Name is Kees Putman. (C.J.L.) (Kees [pron. 'Case'] being the Dutch equivalent of Cornelius).

Dutch painter, writer and documentary filmmaker. Born 1951 in Noordwijk ZH the Netherlands. Married since 1972 to Dorine. We have a son, Joris, who is now 22 years old.

Dorine and I studied cultural anthropology and non-western sociology at leiden University. (She officially, I not) In Leiden I studied also ethnocinematography (officially) which was after my 5 years at the Royal Academy of Fine arts in the Hague.

We lived in Sardinia, Burkina Faso, Thailand, Indonesia (1979 - 1993). We now live in Noordwijk on the dunes near the sea. I stopped filmmaking some years ago because it is a lot of organising and little filming and I need my time for painting and writing. My main subject in painting is the sea. After writing a lot of short stuff I published a youth novel called 'Amerigo' and right now I am writing a much more elaborate novel which will take me off the street for at least 2 years.

I got irritated when I noticed how sloppy the media make up stories and quotes and give wrong data concerning our son Joris who is trying to become a good actor. Therefore I decided to collect all data and put them together in one trustworthy, accessible place like Wikipedia. In the Netherlands Joris is already considered somewhat 'notable'. He plans to go back tot the UK some time in the coming years and try working there as an actor. In view of his plans it seems reasonable to have the correct data of his life timely stored in a place where journalists will seek information. At the same time it is a good opportunity for me tot get familiar with wikipedia (being quite ignorant in the digital world).Putman 11:49, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
