"Strong" is the name of a YouTube video released by Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry on December 6, 2011. The spot has the distinction of being one of most disliked videos on YouTube.
Background
[edit]Though Perry was initially a frontrunner in the GOP race following his entry, his support quickly faded after poor performance in several debates.
Content
[edit]The video, which lasts approximately 30 seconds, consists of Perry affirming his religious values, and criticizing Obama for his "war on religion". As examples of this, Perry cites the repeal of Don't ask, don't tell and the banning of prayer in public schools.
Response
[edit]Many organizations were critical of Perry's video. The video was soon disliked by over 500,000 people, making it the most disliked YouTube political spot and one of the most disliked in the history of YouTube. In an article for Huffington Post, Interfaith Alliance president C. Welton Gaddy claimed that "Strong" " has taken us to a new low in campaign advertising". [1]
