Club SpongeBob is the forty second episode of Spongebob Squarepants season 3. It first aired on Nickelodeon in the United States on July 12, 2002 along with the episode "My Pretty Seahorse". In the episode, Squidward tries to enter Spongebob and Patrick's exclusive club. However Spongebob, Patrick and Squidward end up stranded in a kelp forest after the club house gets thrown over there by a plant.
"Club SpongeBob" was written by Walt Dohrn and Mark O'Hare. The episode features Rodger Bumpass as Squidward and Sirena Irwin as the magic conch shell.
Plot
[edit]SpongeBob and Patrick form an exclusive club, but they become trapped in the clubhouse with restricted room. When SpongeBob states that Squidward and his nose wouldn't fit in, Squidward becomes enraged and decides to join anyway. Despite SpongeBob and Patrick's pleads to stay out, Squidward squeezes himself into their tiny clubhouse. Patrick said that Squidward wouldn't fit in as there wasn't enough space, when SpongeBob adds that they had been stuck up there for three days. While trying to climb out, Squidward causes the clubhouse to be flung in a kelp forest in an unknown location.
Whilst he looks for a way out, SpongeBob and Patrick take the advice of their "Magic Conch Shell" (a parody of the magic conch from Lord of the Flies and the popular Magic 8-Ball), which tells them to do nothing a method that works to their advantage. Meanwhile, Squidward does not share his companions' belief in the supposed powers of the magic conch shell. When food supplies fall from the sky from a plane, Squidward keeps asking the magic conch if he can have something to eat though the magic conch keeps replying with "No". The final time that he asks, he gets enraged. Eventually, a potential rescuer arrives, but he is also a Magic Conch Shell's club member (much to Squidward's dismay). The conch tells them to do "nothing" again so they sit down. Squidward then decides to surrender and sit down with the three and shows signs of craziness.
Themes
[edit]Similar to several episodes, "Club Spongebob" deals with the hateful relationship between Squidward and SpongeBob Squarepants.[1] In the episodes "Help Wanted" and "Squidville", Squidward has a hateful relationship with SpongeBob and Patrick.[2]
