Ambala Jattan
It is a very popular village in Punjab, India. Located in district Hoshiarpur, nearby Garhdiwala. Kabbadi icon Santokh Singh Dhatt (Tokhi) is also from here, as well as some other legends.
Kuljeet Singh Dhatt was also from Ambala Jattan
Kuljeet Singh Dhatt, 35, was the son-in-law of Parkash Kaur, Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s sister. He was from Ambala Jattan in Hoshiarpur district.
Fate: He disappeared in 1989; his family never found his body. He was allegedly killed by five police officials, including Jaspal Singh and Ajit Singh Sandhu.
Family: Kuljeet’s brother Harbhajan Singh, and his mother-in-law Parkash Kaur have pursued the case for 18 years. “The state is in favour of the police,” said Harbhajan. Parkash Kaur, now in Canada, said she might withdraw the case.
Case: For the past 10 years, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has been hearing a case against the five police officers for abducting Kuljeet with a motive to murder. Sandhu, one of the five officers, ended his life under a train, and Jaspal is serving a life sentence in a similar case. But Harbhajan wants Jaspal and the other officers to be brought to justice in Kuljeet’s case.
Ambala Jattan have had great athletes come out of it, Basketball stars like Buta Singh Dhatt, Kabbadi legend like Santokh Singh Dhatt (Atom Bomb). They have lot of veterans that fought WWII as well.
Ambala Jattan was known for it's well educated people. Lot of the people here are either teacher, doctor or in military service. Almost somebody in everyhouse is in a foreign country now. Some cases there are houses left behind empty.
