Thanks

Great work on the Lisa Daniels article after the torrent of vandalism following the NBC piece on Wikipedia. Even unpopular opinions deserve protection. Your work helped to solidify the legitimacy of the site in front of a very large audience. --LoverOfArt 23:30, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

Don't forget Majorly now! Prodego talk 23:32, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
The NBC news showed Lisa Daniels making the "rock star" change to the article. Even though the username of the editor was not visible, given that there was only one such change in the article history, I think we have very strong evidence that User:LisaDaniels is indeed Lisa Daniels. I think a block placed on her account, while understandable in the internal wikipedia world, will surely be interpreted as retaliatory in the "real world". So I would urge you to unblock that user account. Abecedare 01:11, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
Here is the [video link] to the news item. IMO this is stronger evidence than any (more easily spoofed) email correspondence from a user would be. Abecedare 01:21, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

I think there is some confusion, since the only edits User:LisaDaniels made were three days back on March 19th (see [1]), which is completely plausible. Also note that she seems to have updated her own profile in the 2nd edit (also on March 19th). After the story aired, of course, other editors have made the rock star edit, but not User:LisaDaniels. Am I missing something ? Abecedare 02:39, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for following up on this. Even though I doubt a public figure like her will edit articles often under her real name, at least wikipedia is now not preventing her from doing so! Regards. Abecedare 05:33, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

VP approval

last tranche were approved on 13th March. Any chance of another batch being passed? --Dweller 10:14, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

It is possible. I recommend you contact a mod that isn't Betacommand, or me, since we have been doing it so long we are worn out... Prodego talk 21:07, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

RFA Thanks

I would like to thank you for your support in my recent RFA. As you may or may not be aware, it passed with approximately 99% support. I ensure you that I will use the tools well, and if I ever disappoint you, I am open to recall. If you ever need anything, don't hesitate to leave me a note on my talkpage. Thanks again, ^demon[omg plz] 20:39, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

New Sig

Since you were the one who convinced me to change my sig about a month and a half ago, I feel that I should alert you that I made a major change to it. By the way, could you raise me up?  ~Steptrip You raise me up 20:40, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

I converted the "You raise me up" link to the tilde in my sig. As for the editor review, I just want to know on which subjects I can improve and how good of a job I am doing with anti-vandalism.  ~Steptrip 21:09, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
Could you please review me?  ~Steptrip 23:35, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
If you really want. I don't do that sort of thing normally. Prodego talk 23:36, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
Yes, I want as much advice as I can get from the community.  ~Steptrip 23:52, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

Return

Yeah, I'd love to --frotht 00:33, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

Robinson Democrat

Prodego, is there a sourcing problem on the former Democratic affiliation of Mr. Robinson on the Free Republic article? It is an admission, against interest, and I would think it admissible. What's the problem? What do you mean, tertiary? Eschoir 02:26, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

I understand. That being the policy (and I support it), then Founder's Statement and Official Stances have to go. Besides being of dubious relevance, they are citations to the subject of the article about itself.
Do you agree? Eschoir 03:47, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

ISP Templates

I am simply trying to trace down these IPs in an effort to lower vandalism. It makes it easier for people to report these potential vandals if informations pertaining to their ISP providers are provided. There is nothing wrong with that. I am not posting personal information of users, nor am I threatening them at all. May I ask what is wrong with that? Arbiteroftruth 01:51, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

There are other admins, of course, to ask about this matter at hand. Look, banning IP is a precarious business already. This does not confuse anyone, I don't think. The simple fact that we can track down those who vandalized Wikipedia, and report the IP in question to the right ISP is a good thing for Wikipedia, I think, unless you differ on this issue. VP Help

Hi - sorry to bother you, but I'm having a bit of a problem. I USED to be on the VP user list and loved it (and got hooked!). However, I went through usurpation (from User:Philippebeaudette to User:Philippe) and so had to reapply to be given access. Betacommand approved me a few days ago, but it says I'm not on the user list. I let him know, and also left a message on the VP forums, but haven't heard anything about how to fix it. I wonder if you could help me out? Vandal fighting without VP is MUCH slower, and my edit count for the month has plummeted (first because of the wait time and now cuz I can't log in). I appreciate any help you can give me! Philippe 02:53, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your help. Yeah, I've done remember me, I've also cleared cache and cookies... As to how far I'm able to log in... I'm not. When I click on Verify Authorization, it gives me the "not on user list" message. Philippe 03:20, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
Yeah - I just downloaded 1.35 and it works beautifully. So sorry to bother you, I should have tried that earlier, duh! Philippe 03:24, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

SW: question

Can you make this into an automated version? As you see its a skeleton but not a fully functioning script. Thanks, — Darkest Hour 18:27, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

I am no where near qualified for that :). *points at experts*. Prodego talk 19:28, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

This arbitration case has closed and the final decision is available at the link above. The indefinite community ban of User:BryanFromPalatine for tendentious editing, personal attacks, block evasion and disruption is endorsed. The ban also applies to User:DeanHinnen and all other proxies or sockpuppets of BryanFromPalatine. User:Fairness And Accuracy For All is banned from Wikipedia for one year. The articles Free Republic and Democratic Underground are placed on article probation. It is expected that these articles will be improved to conform with Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, and that information contained in them will be supported by verifiable information from reliable sources. Either article may be reviewed on the motion of any arbitrator, or upon acceptance by the Arbitration Committee of a motion made by any user, and users whose editing is disruptive may be banned or their editing restricted as the result of a review. This notice is given by a clerk on behalf of the Arbitration Committee. Newyorkbrad 00:40, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

Regarding "You have new messages" bug

Hi, I saw your name on Bugzilla and was wondering if you know what is causing the You have new messages notification to malfunction. For me, I have seen several instances where the offending vandals' talk page had warnings posted but the orange notification bar does not pop up. If the You have new messages bar does not pop-up or is stuck at either "on" or "off", then warning the IP addresses would be a waste of time. Could you look in to the problem? -- Hdt83 Chat 03:08, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

[2]

Unfortunately he seems to not be active on Wikipedia anymore. Last contrib was around January. Could you direct me to some other people who can possibly fix the problem? If not thanks for your help and happy editing! -- Hdt83 Chat 03:20, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

WP:AIV Protection

Quick question: Why did you leave AIV move protected? I definitely agree that it should not be semi-protected. I just thought I'd find out before I went around changing other admins' actions. Cheers! alphachimp 18:34, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

Makes perfect sense. I'll leave it protected. Thanks for the response. alphachimp 21:48, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

sign +

With the topaz.wputil.setpagecontent the sign + is replaced by a space char, do you know how I can make to conserve it? (I think you how works the function of topaz.wputil.setpagecontent) Pasqual (ca) · CUT 18:57, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

Don't worry, I've got it!
I've :
 content = content.replace(/\+\;/gi, "%2B");
Now that works fine! Pasqual (ca) · CUT 07:37, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
