Could you please write a stub about Kurów on Tulu language here - just a few sentences based on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kur%C3%B3w ? Only 3-5 sentences enough. Please.
PS. Article about Kurów is already on 174 languages. If you do that, please put interwiki link into English version. If your village/town/city isn't yet on PL wiki, I can do article about it. (I'm first author of requests). I haven't yet also this article on Konkani language but I would like search other user because I hate give 2 request to one user. Subpages
[edit]Hello. For all practical purposes a subpage is just another article. For instance, it's counted as a separate article in the size stats, it can be found through the random article button, it will be listed separately in categories, and so on. That's why in most cases, even when the intent is to avoid clutter in a main article, a subpage should have a fairly explicit title and provide sufficient context in the lead. Hope this answers your question! Cheers, Pascal.Tesson 12:27, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
Thank You

Image:Shahrukhkhan_200502_ng.jpg listed for deletion
[edit]An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:Shahrukhkhan_200502_ng.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Abu badali (talk) 19:43, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
Khan's appearance on the cover of National Geographic magazine was a very rare occurance. Celebrities of most kinds from the movie or song world are not a cover choice for this magazine. However Khan got this rare honour when his image appeared on their Asian edition for a article on Bollywood. I had neglected to mention this in the article, since I felt it was self explanatory. I have since made this mention under Other recognitions. Hence I feel Image:Shahrukhkhan_200502_ng.jpg should be retained.--PremKudvaTalk 05:25, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
- Still, I don't think the information on "Other recognitions" needs the help of an image to be understood. The image is unnecessary there. Even the article on "The Hindu" you referenced as a source didn't need to use the image to convey the same information, And, as we try to keep unfree material usage to a minimal, we use no unfree images when none is necessary. I hope you understand. Best regards, --Abu badali (talk) 15:52, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
- You mention that The Hindu article did not have an accompanying image. But as I remember the print editions of almost all these newspapers had the image of the cover. The point is, you will not see Shah Rukh Khan's cover image on the National Geographic or Time magazine sites at all. Heck that way the first Indian celebrity to appear on a Time cover was Parveen Babi. But that cover is not there on Time's online archives. Similarly if you check the NG cover archives the cover for the month on which SRK appeared was an image of a flying owl. Of the three cover images offered for selection (I think they have now dropped this editior's pick section a few years back on their website) none was that of SRK. So chances of people who have not got the magazine seeing the image is not very bright.
- So I feel that the use of this cover image will be fair use considering that it may not be available in other places. And uh I wouldn't like to make a link to my blog entry on the article page.
- The was that it showed that the use of that unfree image, although arguably useful, is not necessary. We only use unfree images when it's necessary. --Abu badali (talk) 16:42, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
- I now agree and since this image though nominated was not deleted, I hence marked it with a speedy delete tag. Its gone now.--PremKudvaTalk 03:58, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

Copyright violation in Image:John-grisham-02145.jpg
[edit]Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:John-grisham-02145.jpg, by Calliopejen1, another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:John-grisham-02145.jpg is unquestionably copyright infringement, and no assertion of permission has been made.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:John-grisham-02145.jpg, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:John-grisham-02145.jpg itself. Non-free use disputed for Image:Kashmir tavleen singh1246.jpg
[edit]This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Kashmir tavleen singh1246.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 16:03, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:USRA-Logo.gif
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:USRA-Logo.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:26, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

If you wanted to get my attention you could have just sent me a message. I am surprised that you also wated to remove "malgalapuram" from the list of names becaause you had supported it once. I want to work on the Mangalore article but due to some restrictions I cannot. I tried my best getting refferences online but it wasnt avaliable. --Deepak D'Souza (talk • contribs) 11:56, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- I have one book called Saraswatis childeren which has got some good information about Mangalore . It mentions much of the stuff that is mentioned in the history column,. but since I am short on time I could not add it.--Deepak D'Souza (talk • contribs) 06:09, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- I can understand your concern about the edit war. I myself dont like having to take part in it but it is important that the names for Mangalore are represented. Those who are against adding Mangalapuam to the list are only doing it out of misplaced jingoism. We cannot let them dictate terms to the people of Mangalore. See they dont even discuss any changes.--Deepak D'Souza (talk • contribs) 06:15, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

- Thanks for the support on the proposed merge. I did not even know about the Stamp stock book article but it is not very well written anyway. I hope you like the use of your images on the new article. All we need now is some more stamp album photos. ww2censor 03:58, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
- I too had not come across Stamp stock book, if I had known I would have placed my images there. Meanwhile unfortunately I don't have a single stamp album. I store everything in Stockbooks or Stock sheet albums.--PremKudvaTalk 05:00, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Flags
[edit]Hi. I have reverted your addition of flags to a few infoboxes. Per WP:MOSFLAG decorational use of flags in infoboxes is deprecated. Images are only used on Wikipedia where they add information, and these flags do not seem to me to do that. Best wishes, --John (talk) 07:47, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
John Grisham novels
[edit]I just thought I'd drop a note to let you know that the preceded by and followed by parameters in the Template:Infobox Book are meant for books in a series, not for books written in chronological order. I noticed that you added the chronological order to the preceded and followed by parameters for Grisham's novels and just thought I'd let you know why I've gone ahead and am removing those parameters from the infoboxes. Hope this helps. --ImmortalGoddezz 04:54, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
Hi Premkudva
[edit]Hi. I have recently joined Wikipedia and also i wrote an article on Madikeri Dasara festival. You have mentioned Madikeri as an useless place. It hurts me. I am from Madikeri. Lot of people visit Madikeri and enjoy there. Please do not comment like this. Yes, i agree there are not much good hotels. I belive, this is the case in most tourist places. Yes North India has beautiful places. But, Madikeri is also very beautiful. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Madikerimanju (talk • contribs) 19:41, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

IPA Phonology for Mangalore
[edit]U had asked me the necessity of adding a IPA phonology for Mangalore
If you just check most of the cities, almost all of them have IPA phonologies.
But the main pupose is not that.........
Consider a word BAT U can pronounce it either the way we pronounce BAT in English or the way I have written बट in devanagari. None of them is wrong.
BAT | बट |
---|---|
bæt | bɑːt |
But check their IPA phonologies. They are different.
Similarly, Mangalore may be pronounced in many ways.
Check in Mangalore itself, the letter a in Mangalore is silent and its effect is just implied by nasal stress.
Therefore, putting a IPA name for Mangalore is the best way to avoid errors of any sort while pronounciation.
Morever, IPA phonology is very significant in Wikipedia. If U are editing something, then just check below, along with different characters, you will also find a IPA
Mangalore has already made it's mark on the globe. It has also been twinned with Hamilton in Canada.
Therefore, I suggest we should add a IPA phonology for Mangalore.
As per Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary, the IPA phonolgy is \ˈmaŋ-gə-ˌlȯr\ i.e maŋgəlor
Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary is a world famous, standard and highly accurate Web dictionary.

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Carcassonne stamp 2000.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Carcassonne stamp 2000.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 09:41, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
Image:Carcassonne stamp 2000.jpg
[edit]I have tagged Image:Carcassonne stamp 2000.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Non-free. Thank you. --Geniac (talk) 15:30, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:Celebrate Century 1900 1998.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading Image:Celebrate Century 1900 1998.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 05:02, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

CTC category
[edit]Hi, I was removing stamp images from Category:Celebrate the Century stamps in preparation for deleting it - it doesn't serve any purpose, and most of the individual stamps will be deleted eventually, because they don't have any legitimate fair use in WP articles (two or three should be sufficient to illustrate the CTC article itself). The sheets don't need to be in the subcategory either, and strictly speaking, if they only appear in a gallery in the CTC article, that's not going to fly with many editors, who won't see any reason to have more than one. AfD nomination of List of Mangalore people
[edit]I have nominated List of Mangalore people, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Mangalore people.
